A table is one of the most used tools in any person's repertoire. From the office all the way to your bedside. With a tool that has been around for 1000’s of years, I wanted to produce a piece that was true to its early conceptions. The Modern workhorse uses the familiar stance and structure of a traditional sawhorse yet also embraces modern technology for its construction.
The beautiful elegance of a timber sawhorse comes from its simplicity, proportion, and construction from common sawn timber sizes.
For my piece, I used a dark Canaletta Walnut and CNC milled each piece from standard sizes of log sawn timber. Through this technique, I sought to keep the simplicity and proportion of its harder worked brother.
